Lantern Procession
Thursday 8 November 5.30pm.
Join us for a colourful lantern procession through the streets of St Albans!
We'll be leaving St Peter's Church at 5.30pm, walking a short route round
local streets, then returning to the church for sparklers and marshmallows
by the firepit.
We're also running a free lantern-making workshop on Sunday 8 November
2-4pm in church. All materials will be provided but if you have a spare,
empty cardboard juice carton please bring it along! You are also welcome
to bring your own lantern to the procession - we ask that only electric
lights are used to light them (no naked flames).
12th November is St Martin's Day. It is a German tradition for children to
make and carry lanterns through the streets on that day, remembering
the story that St Martin cut his cloak in half to share with a poor man. The
lanterns remind us of the light he brought to a person living in darkness.
There is no charge or need to book for the procession - just come along!
