Music at St Peter's

Music is at the heart of worship at St Peter's, and we are proud of our excellent choir. Our choristers and adult singers lead the music at Sunday services, major festivals, and weddings throughout the year, enriching our worship with a wide-ranging and inspiring repertoire. The choir is directed by Nick Robinson.

 

Join the Choir

We are always delighted to welcome new members. Those aged 11–17 are invited to audition at any time; if your child is under 11 and would like to join the choir they’d be very welcome – please contact the Director of Music.

 

The adult section of the choir is currently at full capacity but please contact our Director of Music to register your interest for the future.

 

Successful applicants join the choir as probationers for around six months before being admitted as full members. During their time with us, choristers have the opportunity to develop their musical skills, earn medals in recognition of their progress, and receive payment that reflects their experience and commitment.

 

 Rehearsals and Services

• Boys and Girls: Tuesdays 6.30-7.15pm and Fridays 6.45-7.30pm (with optional table tennis from 6pm)

• Men: Fridays 7.45-8.45pm

• Men and women: Sundays 5pm

 

The choristers and men normally sing at the 10.00am Sunday service as well as on special occasions throughout the church year. The adult choir of men and women sing at Evensong at 6pm.

 

 A Choir Community

We gladly accept help from parents in supervising social activities for our young choristers, which makes the choir a welcoming and enjoyable community as well as a musical one. The choir is committed to supporting the broader life of the church. Several social functions take place throughout the year, not all musical, which choir members are encouraged to assist with and/or attend.

 

St Peter's Choir is proud to be affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music, reflecting our commitment to high standards of music and the development of young singers.
