Making
music has always been a key part of life at St Peter's, which helps
to explain why we have two choirs, two organists, and even two organs!
We are able to offer a first class musical education for young people,
and at the same time we act as a venue for a variety of lunch-time and
evening concerts. Having recently completed a major refurbishment and
redecoration programme St Peter's is now an ideal concert venue.
In February 2006 we completed the installation of a brand new, half
a million pound Mander Pipe Organ - the first of its kind to be built
in this country for a decade. It shows just how committed we are to
providing opportunities for music making both within and without the
Church community, and our new instrument has won much critical acclaim.
We have further invested in our music making by purchasing a Bosendorfer
Grand Piano. It is generally agreed that this is currently the best
Grand Piano in St Albans, and during the 2007 International Organ Festival
it was put to good use by John Lill, who performed to a packed audience.
If you know of any young people who would like to receive a free musical
education at a very high standard, or if you would like to use St Peter's
as a Concert venue, please contact us via the Church Office on 01727
