Sunday service activities (all ages)
The Sunday morning 9.30am Holy Communion service is great for children of all ages and their parents.
There is a children's corner for babies and toddlers during the service throughout the year at the back of the church, so parents and children can still attend the service and feel part of the church community. The babies can play on the activity mats with soft toys while the toddlers and slightly older children can entertain themselves with books, games, activity sheets and colouring. Please don’t worry about your child making noise during the service. The children are as much a part of the service as the rest of the congregation. Similarly, it is fine if you need to feed your baby or offer them a drink or snack during the service. We want you to feel relaxed and enjoy being at St Peter’s with your young children.
Older children will find a warm welcome at our Junior Church, which runs during term time. There are two age groups: 4+ and 9+ held in the Octagon room and library. The children proceed from the children's corner during the first hymn and return before the communion. These groups provide activities such as drama, stories, discussion, Godly Play and crafts designed to help the children on their journey through Christian faith in a way that we hope is both engaging and fun. At "All Age" family services, the children are generally involved in the address and provided with interactive activities.
During the holidays, our children's corner continues to run and older children are welcome to access the books and resources.
