Music and Bells

Making music has always been a key part of life at St Peter's, which helps to explain why we have two choirs, two organists, and even two organs. We are able to offer a first class musical education for young people, and we also act as a venue for a variety of lunch-time and evening concerts.

If you know of any young people who would like to receive a free musical education to a high standard, or if you would like to use St Peter's as a concert venue, please contact us by telephone or e-mail via the Church Office.

In 2006 we completed the installation of a brand new, half a million pound Mander Pipe Organ - the first of its kind to be built in this country for a decade. This critically acclaimed instrument is used for services every Sunday, for concerts and as part of the biennial St Albans International Organ Festival.

Our 'all age' orchestra accompanies the 9.30am Holy Communion service on the second Sunday of the month and also plays at the Christmas Eve crib service. It is directed by Alex Flood and anyone is welcome to join.

St Peter's has a fine ring of 10 bells which are rung for services on Sundays (8.50am and 5.50pm ringing), with practices on Mondays (from 8pm). Visitors are always welcome.
