To send us material for The Key, email the outgoing editors at denjpark@btinternet.com or at susieann48@btinternet.com

The Key is a gateway to life at St Peter’s Church and is published three times per year, in Spring, Summer and Autumn/Winter.   We usually carry stories about St Peter’s people, a message from the Vicar, articles on events which have taken place, forthcoming events, ways in which St Peter’s is helping others, obituaries, information about how to join one or more of St Peter’s many groups or activities and developments in the church such as fund-raising drives related to particular projects.

The Key is published in colour as an 8, 12 or 16 page A4 sized magazine and coloured photographs are a particularly popular feature.  It is prepared using Microsoft Publisher software and is currently published by Christian Publishing and Outreach Ltd using an environmentally-friendly paper product.  All recent hard copies of the The Key carry a recycling logo which we hope will encourage readers using hard copies to recycle them once they are no longer useful.

Send us photographs

You can send us photographs which you would like considered for publication in The Key in one of several ways: either by attaching a photograph to an email addressed to us; or by lending or giving us a colour print which we can scan into our collection for The Key.  We will be very happy to return hard copy photographs to you if you so request.

Make sure we are informed

We are particularly keen to represent and cover all aspects of life at St Peter’s in The Key.  We want to hear about events which have happened and which are planned, and which may have all too easily escaped detection through our antennae.  We want to hear about awards presented to members of the choir, fund-raising events, concerns and views, and so on.  You can pass information to us by telephoning us (01582 834449), by emailing to one of the above addresses, leaving a note for our attention in the church, or by catching us in church (a photograph of us can be found below). Please try to bear in mind our preparation and publishing cycle described below.

Let us have your feedback on The Key

We also very much welcome your feedback on The Key. You can pass feedback to us by telephoning us (01582 834449), by emailing to one of the above addresses, leaving a note for our attention in the church, or by catching us in church (a photograph of us can be found below).

The preparation and publishing cycle

There are three windows of opportunity during the year when material for The Key should ideally reach us.  They are as follows:

  • for the Spring edition – early February to middle of March at the latest
  • for the Summer edition – April to end of May at the latest
  • for the Autumn/Winter edition – middle of September to end of October at the latest

However, there is no need to worry if you miss one of these windows as sometimes we may be able to include material at the last minute or in a forthcoming edition.

St Peter’s has published a church magazine for well over a century.  Previous copies of the magazine, which has only been named The Key in recent years, are held in the County Archives in Hertford and make fascinating reading, particularly for anyone interested in changing values and attitudes.
